So, I started…
I spent hours editing. I worried about the right background, the best music, and visual effects. I tried everything I saw other people do. Still, my views stayed low. My channel didn’t grow.
It wasn’t until I discovered one simple thing that everything changed.
It’s nothing special, and it’s not complicated. But it works.
Let me share what I learned.
Why Nobody’s Watching (Yet)
You want people to watch your videos. You want them to like what you create. The problem is that getting people to click and stay is almost impossible for you.
Maybe you’ve tried making better thumbnails. Maybe you’ve spent hours making your video “perfect.” Still, your views aren’t growing.
It’s devastating, isn’t it?
You know your videos have value. You know you’re putting in the effort. But it feels like no one notices.

However, YouTube is still one of the best tools out there for sharing your message. You can connect with people all over the world. You can teach them, help them, or make them laugh.

So, figuring this out is important.
And let me tell you this… you don’t need to be perfect. You just need to know what really matters.
What Most Creators Get Wrong
I’ll be honest with you. I wasted a lot of time trying to fix the wrong things.
I focused too much on editing. I thought my videos needed to look professional to succeed. So, I’d spend hours adjusting colors or adding effects.
I thought I needed some special equipment. I saved up for better cameras and microphones, thinking that would make people watch.
I even tried copying what big YouTubers were doing. I’d follow trends or try their style, hoping it would work for me too.
But none of this got me more views.
Because…
None of these things made people click on my videos.
The Two Rules That Changed Everything
The secret to doing well on YouTube is simple.
Make a big promise in your title and thumbnail.
Think about why someone clicks a video. They see the thumbnail and read the title. That’s it. If it grabs their attention and promises something they want, they’ll click.
For example, instead of saying, “How to Cook a Steak,” say, “The Secret to Cooking the Perfect Steak Every Time!” It makes people curious.
And your thumbnail should make that promise clear too. Use big, bold text or an image that tells a story.
Deliver on that promise in the video.
If your title says you’ll teach them a secret, you need to teach them that secret. Don’t waste time with a long intro. Don’t talk about things they don’t care about.
Get straight to the point. Give them what they came for.
That’s it. That’s the core of YouTube's success.
Why This Formula Works
When you promise something in your title and thumbnail, people know what to expect. And when you deliver, they trust you.
Trust makes people come back. Trust makes them subscribe.
It also makes them watch your whole video. YouTube notices when people watch longer.
It seems that your video is keeping people interested. And YouTube rewards you by showing your video to more people.
On the other hand, if you don’t deliver, people leave. And when they leave early, YouTube stops recommending your video.
So, focus on these two things:
Make a big promise, and keep it.
What You Can Do Today
You don’t need perfect editing to do this.
You just need to think about your viewers.
Pick one thing your video will teach or show. Don’t try to do too much in one video. Stick to one main idea.
Write a title that grabs attention. Ask yourself: Why would I click on this? What do I want to know?
Example: If your video is about saving money, don’t title it “How to Save Money.” Try something like, “The One Trick That Saves Me $500 Every Month!”
Create a thumbnail that stands out. Use bold text or a clear image that supports your title.
Start your video with a strong opening. Don’t say, “Hi, welcome to my channel.” Instead, jump right into why they clicked.
Example: “You’re probably overpaying for groceries, and I’m going to show you how to stop.”
Deliver what you promised. Make sure your video answers the question or solves the problem your title promised.
The Little Stuff Comes Later
Once you’ve nailed this, you can work on improving other things.
You can experiment with editing or try different camera angles. You can work on your delivery and personality.
But none of that matters if you don’t get the basics right.
Here’s My Challenge to You
If you’re feeling stuck, I want you to try this. Take your next video idea focus only on the title, and thumbnail, and deliver on your promise.
Don’t worry about anything else. Just test this out.
I think you’ll be surprised by the results.
Growing on YouTube isn’t about being perfect. It’s about understanding what people want and giving it to them.
So, don’t overcomplicate it. Keep it simple.
Make a big promise in your thumbnail and title. Deliver that promise in your video.
That’s 90% of success on YouTube.
The rest is just details.
